🛈 It's critical that your email address be provided and all documentation submitted in order to be considered eligible for a hunt.
🛈 Draw permits are non-transferable; a drawn hunter may not give his/her slot to person who was not drawn.
🛈 At completion of the application period and drawing, successful special permit hunters will be notified via e-mail as provided on application. E-mail notification of selection will include donation information and special permit hunt dates. Rules & Regulations

•All hunters will be required to follow Georgia DNR regulations as well as any additional regulations imposed by Wilderness Outdoor MENistry.

  • Additional Guidelines

🛈 Special permit hunters must check in and check out prior to hunting each day at the main kiosk. Hunters must include their tag number and complete a harvest report.
🛈 As a safety precaution, special permit hunters are required to mark their general location on the large kiosk map located in the designated parking area using the provided push pins to inform other hunters and staff of their whereabouts.
🛈 Parking is allowed in designated areas only.
🛈 No motorized vehicles are allowed on unpaved property before or during the hunt.
🛈 Climbing stands, ladder stands and lock-on stands are permitted, but stands that require spikes or nails into trees are prohibited within the Retreat Center.
🛈 All hunters climbing must use fall restraint harness systems.
🛈 Only Georgia residents, with a hunting license or exemption, aged 21 and over may apply for a special permit hunt. Each successful applicant can bring one designated guest, and both hunters can hunt and harvest deer from the same location. The guest must be at least age 18 and a resident of Georgia. The guest must also be properly licensed in Georgia or exempt. The permit holder must be present at each hunt.

Designated Hunting Zone

The retreat center will be closed on quota hunt days for the safety of our visitors. The following map indicates the designated 45 acre hunting zone. A Map of the permit hunt area boundaries will be made available online and at the parking lot kiosk. It will be the responsibility of each hunter to assure he remains in the designated hunting area. Hunting outside the designated area poses a safety hazard and individuals in breach of this condition will forfeit their hunt and be asked to leave the facility.

FAQ's

  • What is a draw hunt?

A Draw Hunt is a managed hunt that allows a set number of hunters to participate. A draw is placed on a hunt to protect natural resources (wildlife and their habitats), provide a high-quality hunting experience and maintain a high level of safety. Hunting outside of draw hunt dates is strictly prohibited.

  • What are the harvest limits?

Special permit hunters may harvest 1 legal buck and 1 doe each.

  • What is the cost?

There is no fee to apply. However, we kindly ask successfully drawn hunters to donate $25 or more toward maintenance—assisting in the continuation of future hunts.

  • Is baiting or scouting allowed?

Successful special permit hunters are allowed to scout, place trail cameras and bait up to two weeks prior to each hunt. In accordance with Georgia DNR regulations, deer may be hunted over or near any bait on private lands in all counties, provided the hunter has written permission from the landowner. It is unlawful to hunt deer over bait or place bait on any state or federally managed lands.

  • How many people are drawn for each hunt?

In an effort to provide a safe and enjoyable hunting experience we have limited the draw to 4 special permit hunters per hunt. Each successful applicant can bring one designated guest, and both hunters can hunt and harvest deer from the same location. The guest must be at least age 18 and a resident of Georgia. The guest must also be properly licensed in Georgia or exempt. The permit holder must be present at each hunt.
